IK Multimedia – the leader in mobile music creation accessories for iOS – is proud to announce iRig™ KEYS, the first ultra-slim and highly portable universal MIDI controller keyboard for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac/PC.

iRig KEYS connects directly to the dock connector of the iOS device or the USB port on Mac/PC. It features 37 velocity-sensitive mini-keys — 3 full octave range plus one note, which takes up minimal space when used on a desktop, and can easily fit in a backpack or a carry-on bag.

When connected to a Mac/PC, the USB port powers it.

Players simply hook it up to an iOS device or a computer and start playing. iRig KEYS can be used for live performance, songwriting and composition with the included apps and software or with a multitude of other MIDI compatible instruments and recorders on any iOS, MacOS or Windows system

A small controller with great features

For maximum playing comfort and versatility, iRig KEYS includes regular modulation and pitch-bending wheels, plus an input for an optional standard sustain pedal that accommodates any playing style, all housed in a sleek ultra-compact durable package.

iRig KEYS features an “easy-to-use” programmable control panel with 5 backlit soft-touch buttons and one volume/data knob. Program and Octave up/down buttons are included plus a Set button that allows storage of up to 4 different customized set-ups for the two wheels and the data knob. Each set-up can be instantly recalled for specific instruments configurations. An Edit mode is also available to transpose the keyboard, send specific program change messages, change MIDI channel and reassign the data knob MIDI control changes in a flash.

Old Spice turns sweat into sounds with Muscle Music

Terry Crews and Old Spice have teamed up once again to wipe the sweat off the pectorals and into the recording booth with their latest Muscle Music spot on Vimeo.

The spot shows Crews strapped up to a number of sensors all over his body (watching the spot will show you just how many instruments Crews can isolate with his back muscles alone) playing beats on a number of found objects.

Instacube launches on Kickstarter

After months of patiently waiting, Instacube finally launches today on Kickstarter.

In case you haven’t already heard from my tweets or posts, Instacube is a really awesome marriage of design and social interaction in one gorgeous cube. Basically by liberating Instagram photos from your smart device, Instacube feeds your favorite images wirelessly at 3x the size.

“When designing Instacube, I was inspired by the idea of creating a living canvas,” says John Whaley, Head Industrial Designer at D2M | Design to Matter and visionary behind Instacube. “Up until this point, Instagram has been a very inward, pocket-sized experience. With Instacube, our Instagram feed becomes an outward expression. Now we can enjoy our Instagrams as they happen, and appreciate them in full-scale for the pieces of art they are.”

I met Savannah Peterson, Manager of Business Development, Marketing & PR for D2M | Design to Matter at the Mashable Connect Conference this past May. She was one of the more outspoken and active participants on the event’s social site before, during, and after, so we truly clicked as just friends.

Next thing you know it’s three months later, I’m building them an Instacube sweepstakes app on Facebook (which you can enter now) and today the D2M team rolls out their Kickstarter project (which you can begin backing here). It’s go time.

The design is awesome, the concept is killer, you should back the project (or at least register to win one). I’ll be waiting to find the first musician who shoots a music video behind a wall of Instacubes with live fans streaming photos behind them.

Disclosure: Instacube and D2M asked me to build a Facebook app for them. I did it for free….so I really don’t need a disclaimer, just go back their project.

UPDATE: The Instacube has been funded! You can still enter to win one here and also purchase one here.

Kred Story introduces a new way to view social activity as a visual stream.

Kred, a community influence and outreach measure from social analytics company PeopleBrowsr, is staking their claim in the evolution of the “science” of social media influence by launching Kred Story, a visual social content aggregator.

In a blog post this morning, Kred CEO Andrew Grill described as the culmination of many years of research.

“It shifts the emphasis from scores and data to people and their content,” said Grill, CEO, “Kred Story gives everyone access to social data in an intuitive format that enhances their social media experience. It makes influence metrics useful for all of us.”

Now the reason why people like Peter Shankman and Robert Scoble are all excited for the new iteration of Kred is that it’s not just an improvement on a numerical measurement. Instead, Kred Story assembles different interests together to find those mutal intersects of the social graph to open up new relationships beyond individual pieces of content or numbers of followers. It all happens in this”vision board” style screen that looks something like a cross between Pinterest and RebelMouse.

You can see certain tweets or photos that are more engaging than others and allows you to share on Facebook, Twitter, or +Kred pretty much any of the blocks on the board. The new Kred Story board isn’t just for individuals, hashtags get the treatment as well as you can see with #RomneyFail below, and with that comes additional advertising space, which you can learn more about here.

What’s in it for you?

For businesses seriously looking to build relationships with influencers, bloggers, other brands, or even follow up on customer service/lead nurturing campaigns, the new Kred Story, if the data holds true, could unlock a powerful tool for truly better conversations.

While programs like Radian6 offer powerful tools to filter conversations from influencers, Kred Story adds a human element to the influencer listing. While certainly not a replacement for any social analytics tool, Kred Story offers up another very cool and unique tool to put in any social strategist, brand or community manager’s tool belt.

Facebook Campaign Icons in Newsfeed Sidebar

I recently discovered the addition of Facebook Ad campaign icons in the news feed side bar as well the Ads Manager icons that had been there before.

Talk about a time saver!

It has always been hard to access individual campaigns because you had to go through the ads manager screen and then sort your campaigns to see the results for each. Now there’s a quick and easy shortcut.

Have you seen this on your pages yet if you’re running ads?
